The ever-improving Max Martinez has smashed his previous best time, clocking 16 minutes and 45 seconds to put himself right among the fastest competitors ever to run at the weekly event.
Martinez is now fifth overall on the record list for the Bathurst course and just four seconds shy of Brandon Martin's 16:41 - the fastest run by a local competitor.
Martinez became the first person to run sub-17 minutes on more than one occasion at Bathurst following his latest effort (He ran 16:57 on Christmas Day).
"I woke up Saturday morning and the legs were feeling fresh after having a week off parkrun last week while I was on holidays for a few days," he said.
"I just rock up to parkrun every Saturday and do my best and I honestly didn't think I was going to do another sub-17. I knew I would eventually break my PB. I only went sub-17 on Christmas Day but didn't honestly think I would take off another 12 seconds off my time in just three weeks.
"Towards the end of the fourth kilometre I had a good feeling I was chasing for a new PB. Getting closer to the end I pushed the pace and once I got around the bush at the end I knew I had the PB covered."
Martinez went past Nick North (16:50) to become the second fastest local runner across the Peace Park course.
Martin and Theo Christian (16:41) are the runners ahead of Martinez, while the top two positions in the standings belong to Bevan Lord (16:28) and Patrick Cantlon (16:35).
Martinez said the number one spot is a realistic proposition.
"The next goal eventually is to get the course record," he said.
"I'm still 17 seconds off it but that's what I want to work towards and now I'm only four seconds off my age category record and that's something I want to put my name next to."
Fellow young gun Miller Rivett is also on the cusp of joining the '16 club' following his personal best effort of 17:06 on Saturday.
This Saturday will see Bathurst parkrun celebrate its 200th edition.
