What a turnout for the Australia Day social bowls.
With over 60 people participating the club was a hive of activity.
Prior to the games a short presentation was given to Bathurst's newest citizen Terry James.
A reminder also this week for all 6s and 7s Pennants players that a trial will be played this Sunday January 31 at 10:00am.
This is also a uniform trial, so please ensure your uniform is ready.
This is how they rolled:
Tuesday January 26
Rink two: Jane McIntosh, Wayne Wright and Ron McGarry opened the game against Louise Francis, Garry Café and Des Sanders.
With an even tussle and the scores level on the fifth (3-all) and again on the 10th (7-all) the match could have gone either way. Team McGarry prevailing in the end 15-11.
Rink three: Sara Law and Pauline Clark dominated against Ethan Law and Peter Zylstra holding a 10-1 lead after eight ends.
After the break Team Zylstra still struggled to gain the points with Team Clark taking the win 16-6.
Rink four: Maureen Taylor and Dawn Howarth absolutely dominated against Ross Dransfield and Terry James. With a very impressive performance the new citizen couldn't get anything right throughout the match to go down 21-5.
Rink five: Mitch Thornberry, Terry Clark and Allan Clark opened the scoring for the match against Katie, George Ballard and Phil Burgess.
However, from the 5th end it was all Team Burgess who progressed to the winners circle winning 18-9.
Rink six: Robyn Moore, Ian Warren and Andrew Field were in the box seat early against Sandra Robinson, Sue Murray and Pat Hogan.
The scores were even on the 8th (5 all) and the momentum looked set to change but didn't. Team Field continued scoring well to take the win 19-8.
Rink seven: Greg Carr, John Bosson and Merle Stephens were on the back foot from the start against Leon McIntosh, Ray Miller and Gordon Holland who lead from the opening end and did not lose this lead, winning 18-9.
Rink eight: Marcia Armstrong, Keith Pender and Leonie McGarry only took until the 2nd end to take the lead from Daniel Plunkett, Kayleen Carr and Phil Murray.
From there it was all Team McGarry with a convincing win 18-9.
Rink nine: Kevin Howard, Dick Graham and Mel Parker scored three on the opening end against Jo Café, Ray Minogue and Hugh Brennan.
Team Brennan came back to level the match on the third (3-all), but by the 8th Team Parker were up 10-6.
With scores level again on the 14th (15-all) it came down to the wire with Team Brennan victorious 17-16.
Rink 10: Jim Clark (swing bowler), Garth Robinson and Tim Pickstone drew level on the 6th end (5 all) against Jim Clark, Mick Burke and Ted Parker.
With level scores again on the 8th (6-all) the break didn't help Team Pickstone going down in the end 20-12.
Rink 11: Leesa Lepaio and Liz Bull dominated against Judy Davies and Trevor Sharpham.
With some impressive bowling by the lead (Leesa) Team Sharpham couldn't match the movement of the jack being 19-6 down on the second last end.
Team Bull winning 19-12 on the last.
Rink 12: Rebecca Simon, Peter Fagan and Joe Wright had a close match against Mick Bright, Jodie James and Ken Hartwig.
With the scores 4-all on the 4th, Team Hartwig pushed ahead and maintained a comfortable lead to take the win in the end 19-12.
Saturday January 30
Rink two: Social Game: Ron Hogan, Ray Minogue and Peter Zylstra had a tight match against Kevin Howard, Des Sanders and George Ballard.
The scores were level on the seventh (five-all) and from there it was anyone's game.
Team Zylstra forges ahead at the backend of the game to come up winners 17-12.
Rink three: Social Game: Max Elms and Phil Burgess were not so lucky against Jeff Adams and Ron McGarry.
With an 11-4 lead by the 10th, Team McGarry were in the box seat.
However, Team Burgess fought back to bring the scores level on the 14th (11-all).
The points for the remaining part of the match went predominantly to Team McGarry for the win 23-17.
Rink five: FINAL of Men's Championship Fours: Paul Francis, Tony Urza, Lotsi Koszta and Craig Bush opened the scoring for the match to be 4-0 up by the 2nd against Kerry Connors, John Hobson, Mick McDonald and Peter Naylor.
Team Bush maintained the pressure against Team Naylor who came with one point on the 10th being 8-9 down.
Team Bush steered the ship to victory in a very close match from the start winning 19-14.
Congratulations gentlemen.
Rink seven: Social Game: Dave Josh and Noel Witney were too good for Ken Hartwig and Tim Pickstone on the day, with Team Witney having to fight for the lead on the opening ends.
With the match level at 10 a piece on the 12th, Team Witney again drew level on the 14th (11 all).
From here it was all Team Witney with a convincing win 21-14.
Rink eight: Social Game: Peter Ryan and Allan Clark had the fight of the day against Terry James and Hugh Brennan.
With the lead being swapped several times over the match it was a tight one.
The scores were level on the 6th (7 all), 9th (9 all), 13th (14 all), 18th (20 all) and again on the 21st (22 all).
The final end gave Team Clark a close two-point victory 24-22.

BATHURST CITY
This week the first two rounds of the Club Fours Championship was held over the weekend.
First Round, Saturday 30
Game one, rink nine: Top-rated team comprising Skip Phil Gray, third John Archer, second John Fulton and lead Ray Fitzalan defeated their opposing team with Skip Alby Homer, third Mick Simmons, second Luke Dobbie and lead Susie Simmons.
Up to the 13th end, it was quite an even game with 8-all in the seventh then 13-all.
From there, Phil's team applied the pressure: 18-13 in the 15th then a five in the 17th put the seal on the result. Phil and team ran out winners on 25-16.
Game two, rink 10: Skip Ken Waddell with third Ross James, second Paul Reece and Lead Ron Hollebone defeated skip Norm Hayes, third Brian Burke, second Ian Shaw and lead Chris Stafford.
While Boof's team led 8-3 in the ninth end, it was even-Stephen 9-all in the 13th.
Again, Boof's team crept ahead, leading 15-10, soon Norm and his team levelled again 15-all in the 19th.
Boof's team took control in the last two ends, scoring two threes to close out the game 21-15.
Game three, rink 12: A very close game between skip Mick Sewell, third Garry Hotham, second Ron Cambey and lead Kevin Miller against Skip Ray Noonan, third Dennis Harvey, second Ken Fulton and lead Denis Oxley.
Mick's team led until Shorty's team snared a couple of three's to lead 14-12 in the 17th end.
At the 21st end it was 16-all. While Shorty's team were holding three shots, Mick's Skip's shot came in and took the winning shot 17-16.
Game four, rink 13: Skip Alex Birkens, third Buddy Simpson, second Ian Schofield and lead Anthony Morrissey defeated the team of Skip Hans Hummelshoj, third Trevor Kellock, second Arthur Williams and Lead John McDonagh.
At the 14th end, Haggis and his team had a convincing lead 15-7.
Hans' crew then won the next three ends to close within three, 15-12.
That was it for them as Haggis' team took the remaining four ends and seven shots to win 22-12.
Second Round, Sunday 31
Game one: Mick Sewell, Garry Hotham, Ron Cambey and Kevin Miller defeated Alex Birkens, Buddy Simpson, Ian Schofield and Anthony Morrissey.
Mick's team had a great run, dropping two ends in the first nine.
This had them leading 15-2. While Haggis and his team won the majority of the remaining ends, they trailed 11-21 at the end.
Game two: Ken Waddell, Ross James, Paul Reece and Ron Hollebone defeated Phil Gray, John Archer, John Fulton and Ray Fitzalan.
While Boof's team held the lead from the start, Phil's team wasn't far behind.
At the 12th end, they trailed 6-8. A single, followed by a four put Boof's team well into the lead, which they held to the end. The final score: 17-12.
Social Bowls
Wednesday January 27
Game one, rink one: Joe Wright and Bob Foster vs Trevor Sharpham and Barry McPherson. After dropping the first end, Joe and Bob won the next four ends and twelve shots.
Trevor and Barry won three singles before Joe and Bob added another 6 shots to their score of 18-3. Although Barry and Trevor added ten shots, it wasn't enough.
Joe and Bob won with a 23-14 score line.
Game two, rink two: Ray Noonan and Mick Simmons had a strong win over Denis Oxley and Anthony Morrissey.
While it was 4-all at the fifth end, Denis and Anthony had a very dry spell, winning only two more ends in the game. Those two singles gave them six shots while Shorty and Mick finished with 30.
Game three, rink three: John Archer and Ian Shaw met Geoff Thorne and Ian Cunningham. John and Ian had a good lead, 10-3 then 16-4, then 19-7 in the 14th end.
Geoff and Ian then put four ends together to gain seven shots but too little, too late. The final score for John and Ian winners on 21-16.
Game four, rink four: Bob Lindsay and Susie Simmons versus Ross James and Phil Murray.
After being 5-all at the sixth end, Bob and Susie had a marvellous run of nine ends, during which they added 14 shots.
Ross and Phil then won four of the remaining five ends and added 12 shots to their score. Not enough, Bob and Susie won with a 21-18 score.
Game five, rink five: A close game between Kevin Miller and John Martin against Jim Grives and Arch Ledger.
Kevin and John had the upper hand with six shots in the first three ends, but Jim and Arch strung six ends together to take the lead 13-6.
By the 16th end, Kevin and John were only a single shot behind. The score was 17-all at the 20th end, the winner to be decided in the last end. A single shot for Kevin and John gave them the win.
Game six, rink six: Norm Hayes, John McDonagh and Paul Rodenhuis (together again!) versus Trevor Kellock, Jeff Larsen and Annette McPherson.
Norm's crew started well with seven shots in the first three ends.
Trevor's team picked up a five, followed by a four for Norm's side.
At the 11th end, it was 17-12 in Norm's favour. At the 16th it had increased to 22-13.
At that point, Trevor's team won all but one end to finish three shots down, 20-23.
Game seven, rink seven: Pat Duff and Garry Hotham versus Ron Cambey and Arthur Williams.
Pat and Garry had a head start with eight shots in three ends.
At the13th end the score stood at 17-9 in Pat and Garry's favour. They then proceeded to win all but the last end, finishing up winners on 28-10.
Saturday January 30 Two Bowl Triples
John Archer, Susie Simmons and Bruce Rich played against Mick Simmons, Bob Lindsay and Arch Ledger.
Mick's team led 5-2 after five ends, then Arch's team put on another eight shots to establish a lead that they held to the end when the score was 26-19.
