Huge congratulations and thanks are due to Dr John Rouse, Hans Stroeve and Nick Drengenberg for bringing their 3D virtual reconstruction of the burnt Kelso High School building to fruition.
The virtual walk-through reminds us of what an architecturally significant, totally integrated education building it was, and how aesthetically pleasing it was too.

No congratulations and thanks are due, however, to the NSW Government, its Education Department, and their public-private partnership partners St Hilliers who, in the process of rebuilding the school in 2006, chose to demolish the four home science classrooms and the agriculture laboratory which came through the fire unscathed.
The demolition of these rooms displayed a total lack of awareness of the significance of the building, and a disregard for the heritage that the surviving buildings represented.
In my opinion, their demolition amounted to an act of heritage vandalism.
Had they been left, these surviving rooms could have served as still-useful facilities for the school, and a permanent example of the rest of the wonderful building that can now only be visited through the brilliant 3D reconstruction.
