The Lions Club of Bathurst has come to the assistance of a new program at Bathurst High Campus to help students receive a nutritious start to the day.

Bathurst High received a $1000 donation from the club on Tuesday to go towards the school's new breakfast club program, which commenced earlier in the month.
Student support officer Cecilia Maloney said the donation will help further establish the club at Bathurst High.
"We're currently in our third week running the club, and it's already proving to be a hit among students, which is promising considering breakfast is the most important meal of the day," Ms Maloney said.
"The results of a wellbeing survey conducted across Bathurst High found 50 per cent of students come to school without breakfast every day, so we hope the club will help students stay alert and engaged in learning."
Bathurst High runs the club on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays prior to roll call and in just seven sessions, 485 breakfasts have been served to students.
The breakfast is served by volunteers from the school's leadership team and Student Representative Council [SRC].
Vice-captain Aiden Stait said the club is already bringing a diverse array of students together.
"It's pretty enjoyable; everyone's positive and social, it's a great environment to be in," Aiden said.
Lions Club of Bathurst treasurer Mal Purves said the club was happy to assist a cause designed to enhance the wellbeing of students.
"We also support a breakfast club at Kelso Public School, so we feel this donation complements a key objective of ours: to help local students get the most out of their education," Mr Purves said.
"The donation will help feed a whole bunch of students, which will enable them to make the best possible start to their day."
Secretary Jenny Ellis said "it's essential for children to have access to a quality breakfast option to keep the mind ticking over during the learning process."
The Lions Club of Bathurst supports numerous local projects through fundraising and community engagement initiatives, including the Farmers' Market.
