The Bulls went into day two needing just 13 runs to win first innings points and chase down Cavs' 112, but they had only three wickets in hand.

However, the Bulls duo of Ehsan Ahmed (30) and Pat McCleary (8) got the job done, while Cameron Kerr hit his first BOIDC boundary as Centennials went 34 ahead.

Cavs went for quick runs in their second innings and got to 180 before declaring. Cameron Laird and Hugh Britton both scored half centuries in the boundary blitz.

Mick Hutchinson, Kurt Toole and Zac Newham each claimed two wickets.

Centennials had no intent to chase an outright win, and batted out the day cautiously. Toole (26) and Kyle Aubin (8 not out) stayed in for 22 overs before Cavs claimed their first wicket.

McCleary was the only other Bulls batsmen to fall as the game wrapped up early.

BATHURST City remains the only team outside the top four still eligible for a finals position heading into the last round of the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket competition after their comprehensive win over Centrals on Saturday.

Redbacks went into day two needing 46 runs to win and with seven wickets in hand - putting them in a strong position for victory, and to keep the finals dream alive.

And the two batsmen returning to the middle, Craig Townsend and Mark Day, managed to reach the target with little trouble.

The pair had batted with care to reach stumps unscathed a week earlier but cut loose on day two, with Townsend hitting 48 and Day notching up 35.

Late runs from Mick Tobin (25) saw Redbacks reach 190.

Ed Dodds claimed 4-77 for Centrals from his 20 overs.

Centrals lost a quick run of wickets during their second innings but the back end of their order held on long enough to deny Redbacks a genuine shot at an outright win.

THE return of James Larkin to Kinross' ranks almost led to the school side claiming their first win of the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket season on Saturday against CYMS.

Larkin was just as devastating as the last time he made an appearance for Kinross as he clobbered 129 from 122 deliveries.

Kinross were in pursuit of 317 and Larkin made an unlikely success close to a reality with his 21-boundary performance.

His dismissal left Kinross at 5-217 but smaller knocks from James Glasson (31), George Cumming (22), Nelson Shepherd (20) and Dave Hunter (12 not out) kept the target in their sights.

However, Kinross were eventually stopped at 298 in over 92.

Opener Will Prowse finished with 39.

Johnty French (3-25) and Angus Wilson (3-65) were the best of the CYMS bowlers while Hugh Le Lievre (2-49) was excellent across his huge 28-over performance. His lengthy day with the ball also included nine maidens.

ORANGE City have thrust themselves back into minor premiership favouritism thanks to an outright victory over City Colts on Saturday.

It was a rare case where both teams had their chance of claiming a second innings victory but Orange were 21-run winners on a day dominated by the bowlers.

Colts were bowled out 33 runs short of Orange's 180 first innings total but sought to quickly take down their rivals for a second time.

The Bathurst side cleaned up Orange for just 112 runs inside the space of 19 overs.

That effort saw Colts set themselves a target of 154 for what would be a huge turnaround performance.

But Orange City's bowlers were equally up to the task, bowling out their rivals for 132 and officially bringing Colts' already faint finals hopes to an end.

RUGBY Union have inflicted the first defeat of the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket competition on St Pat's Old Boys and did so in one of the games of the season.

Led by brilliant bowling performances from Jeremy Thackray (5-33) and Jonah Ruzgas (4-43) Rugby Union had St Pat's Old Boys all out for 139 to leave the Saints three runs short of their tally, ending a gruelling and compelling 80-over inning at the Sportsground.

It had been 358 days since St Pat's had been bested across any first grade cricket format but the Rugby attack turned up ready to put a stop to that.

Rugby securing the wickets of Bailey Brien and Adam Ryan before either could do too much damage with a boost for the blue and golds, but the Saints lower order had some fight in them.

Mitch Taylor came close to being an unlikely hero with the bat as he brought up a patient 27 runs before Jameel Qureshi clean bowled him to wrap up an unforgettable day.
