A BIT of fun before a serious challenge - that is how Hollee Simons and Nick North viewed racing as a team in Sunday's Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club's long course race.

The pair took line honours in the 500 metres swim, 16 kilometre cycle, 5km run event as they covered the distance in 54 minutes, 36 seconds.
North's cycle leg time - a 21.41 - was the quickest so far this season.
But more important to the pair than victory was simply enjoying themselves before heading to this weekend's Husky Triathlon Festival where they will race over a much longer distance.
North, who is not currently running due to foot soreness possibly caused by plantar fasciitis, will tackle the aquabike event at Huskisson - that involves a 1.9km swim followed by a 90km cycle.
Simons has entered in the ultimate distance race, so she'll not only face a 1.9km swim and 90km cycle like North, but a 21.1km run as well.
"It was pretty good to come down here today and have a bit of fun with the pressure off," Simons, who did the swim and run leg said.
"It was a good bit of a hit out and it was a bit easier not doing all three legs. But also there's such a good community here, so we like to come down here and support the club and get amongst it.
"It takes your mind off the seriousness of training and it's good to have a laugh with everyone."
Simons is happy with how her training in the build up to Husky has gone and is aiming for a personal best over the Half Ironman distance.
In 2019 she clocked a 5:27.14 for the ultimate course to claim the female 20-24 years honours, while last year Simons again won her age category - this time in a quicker 50:20.37.
"It's coming to the point now where you think 'I don't think I could do it anymore with training', but that's good because we're a week out," she said.
"It's only easier from here, it's time to freshen up an absorb everything that we've done."
Also amongst those to race as a team on Sunday were father and son Dan and Hayden Watson.
Dan Watson did the 300m swim and 16km cycle leg of the short course distance race before handing it over to Hayden for the 2.5km.
Hayden was clapped across the line then got a hug from his dad for his efforts.
The final round of the Bathurst Wallabies season, the Carroll-Scott Memorial Triathlon, will be held on March 28.
