Selected for achieving above and beyond similar schools, Ambassador Schools will share their expertise with those schools in need of a lift, particularly in the key areas of literacy and numeracy.

Education Minister Sarah Mitchell announced on Monday that along with Fairvale High School and Auburn North Public School, Millthorpe Public School exemplifies the excellent educational outcomes that the government seeks to deliver for all students.

"Ambassador Schools have proven, through their results, that the practices they are using make a huge difference for their students," Ms Mitchell said.

"This program defines our system. We do not accept mediocrity, we strive for the best, and we will proudly use our highest performing public schools to achieve that."

Under the School Success Model, which has replaced the Local Schools, Local Decisions policy, best practice at Ambassador Schools will be scaled across to similar schools that are under performing.

Millthorpe Public School principal Penny Granger said that it was exciting that the school's practices would assist other schools in need.

"Our school has been unwavering in our efforts to improve student achievement in literacy and numeracy and the chance to share with other regional schools is a welcomed opportunity," she said.
