While it would be lovely, in some ways, for Centennial Park to be lush and green, I'm actually not that fussed.
For me, the key is that it remain public open space.
If it's not watered, it goes through boom and bust cycles with the rest of us - crunchy and dry during drought, green after rain falls.
The park provides some space in the rhythm of our streets, just like pauses for silence in music can enhance the whole piece.
Our cluttered minds need this space.
