Conditions are set to settle across rain-soaked northern NSW before deteriorating again over the weekend, with the potential for more heavy rain and wind gusts.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned on Thursday night of severe thunderstorms that could lead to flooding in parts of the northern rivers, mid-north coast, tablelands, Hunter and Central West districts.
Coffs Harbour was hit by more than 100mm of rain in the 24 hours to 9am on Friday as an inland trough "unsettled" north and northeast NSW's weather.
Meteorologist Helen Reid said in a statement that conditions on Friday in the area would ease, with only light showers expected.
"There'll be a little bit of cloudiness around and one or two showers but hopefully it won't be anything to be concerned about," Ms Reid said.
But she added that conditions in northern NSW would deteriorate again over the weekend, with heavy rain and wind gusts forecast.
The rainy conditions on Thursday came on the back of a wet Wednesday night, with a freight train derailing on NSW's mid-north coast.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain caused the train, which was carrying dangerous goods, to derail near Coffs Harbour around 2.15am on Thursday.
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Rod Chetwynd said the clean-up would take several days but confirmed the hazardous materials had been secured.
Minor flood warnings remain in place for the Bellinger and Paroo Rivers, while a minor-to-moderate warning is in place for the Orara River.
The NSW SES rescued 17 people overnight on Wednesday.
