MOUNT Panorama is a tough circuit to deal with even when the road is in perfect condition, so when drivers went out on a debris-filled track for Sunday's Top 10 Shootout it was a case of who was willing to take the necessary risks.

Up stepped the previous day's race winner Shane van Gisbergen.
Van Gisbergen, on provisional pole, had the chance to see how all nine drivers ahead of him handled the dusty and slippery conditions on the Bathurst track before he went on his flying lap.
He produced a two minute and 5.6175 second lap to better the efforts of Saturday's Top 10 Shootout winner Cam Waters (2:05.7314) and Anton De Pasquale (2:05.8009).
"I could see how bad the track was, how much dust there was and how everyone was struggling out there," van Gisbergen said shortly after returning to pit lane.
"I thought I might have thrown that lap away at Skyline but a big thanks goes to the team. The car has been awesome."
For the first eight drivers the Top 10 Shootout followed the same pattern, with every car going faster than the one before it.
Andre Heimgartner got proceedings underway with a 2:07.3964, running a little wide at The Chase, before David Reynolds went quicker (2:07.2222) despite a small slide at Forrests Elbow.
The loose moments continued when Jamie Whincup had a small scare at The Cutting, though he still went quicker at 2:06.9558.
James Courtney (2:06.7380) had the cleanest looking lap at that stage when he jumped to the top.
Mark Winterbottom (2:06.6888) and Will Davison (2:06.3136) had clean runs before De Pasquale cranked up the pace by becoming the first driver to break into the 2:05s.
Winterbottom's jump from ninth to sixth across the two shootouts was the best improvement from any driver who took part in both sessions.
Waters found a bit of the grass coming out of the final corner but still made his way to the top.
Chaz Mostert was the second last man onto the track and was looking on track to threaten Waters' time before he made contact with the wall at Forrests Elbow.
The contact put an end to Mostert's pole hopes but his 2:06.4599 was still good enough for fifth place.
Waters believed he may have claimed back-to-back pole positions if not for his error on the last bend.
"My lap was pretty good until that last corner when I had that rear lock up, and that probably cost me a tenth to a tenth and a half, which would have put me on par with Shane," he said.
"I'm not super happy with the car but I'm not sure anyone would be with theirs."
