The male pilot and passenger were both able to escape with minor injuries, and were both transported to Orange Hospital for assessment.
This had the potential to be a tragic accident.

CWPD Inspector Shane Jessop confirmed investigations into the crash are continuing, and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been informed of the incident.
NSW ambulance officials say the crash, which was just off Hiney Road, had the potential to be a "tragic accident".
Three NSW Ambulance crews responded to the call at around 5.30pm, rushing to the scene.
Upon arrival, paramedics treated two patients; a 55 year-old male and a 24 year-old male both for minor injuries.
Incredibly, the 55-year-old pilot was able to remove himself from the wreckage and then help his younger passenger also from the crash.
They were both transported to Orange Hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Ambulance inspector Daniel Clark said both the pilot and the passenger are lucky to be alive.
"The male in his 50s managed to get himself out of the helicopter before extricating the male in his 20s," he said.
"This had the potential to be a tragic accident. They were extremely lucky not to have sustained more serious injuries."
