A man has been charged following investigations into the alleged sexual assault of a woman in the state's Central West.

Detectives from Chifley Police District commenced an investigation on Saturday after reports a 20-year-old woman had allegedly been sexually assaulted in Bathurst.
A crime scene was established in Piper Street as part of inquiries.
Later that day, a 23-year-old man was arrested in Patterson Street, Kelso about 6.25pm.

The man was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with aggravated sexual assault - inflict actual bodily harm on victim.
He was refused bail and appeared via audio visual link at Dubbo Bail Court on Sunday.
