Dear people of the Central West,
You understandably want an improvement in travel times across the Blue Mountains.
We in Medlow Bath, an inconvenient upper Mountains 60 kilometres an hour zone with traffic lights, want to protect our village.

As the first step in implementing its Great Western Highway duplication scheme, Transport for NSW plans to widen the existing highway through Medlow Bath.
This short-sighted plan will not save you a single second in travel time, and will permanently damage the character of our village - a lose/lose result.
There is, however, a real and viable far-sighted alternative.
A series of tunnels under Mount Victoria, Blackheath and Medlow Bath - or better yet, a single long tunnel under all three villages - will separate local and through traffic, provide a safe alternative route in emergency situations, cause less disruption during construction and deliver real benefits to all future road users.
Please help us convince the Minister for Regional Transport to adopt this solution. For all our sakes.
