The talented and passionate Bathurst driver had initially planned to have his third tilt at the Production Car enduro this Easter in his Subaru Impreza WRX. He even rebuilt it in a bid to find success.
But as Schumacher would have to add 6 Hour duties to the time he will spend behind the wheel in his Audi R8 contesting the second round of the GT World Challenge Australia series, it would have made for an intense three days at the Mount.
So as much as Schumacher would have loved to again take on the 6 Hour, he opted out.
"It was a last minute call by me to make a decision not to run the Bathurst 6 Hour and the GT series, just because it puts a lot of demand on yourself as a driver to jump into two completely different cars," he said.
"To go from a right-hand drive car with a six-speed gear box that's got a road going nature about it into a factory built and delivered GT car that's more or less the fastest thing going around Mount Panorama - yeah I made the call it's the GT series I need to concentrate on.
"I didn't want to burden my performance in that by spreading myself too thin trying to compete in two categories over the one weekend.
"So yeah, a little bit of a mature decision there from me."
This season marks Schumacher's first competing in a national series, so that he can now focus solely on doing well in the two one-hour GT races at the Mount this weekend will give him his best chance of success.
That was something that Supercars ace Tim Slade pointed out to the Bathurst driver.
"It was actually Sladey, who is driving with me this year and is supporting me driver coaching and engineering wise, he said to me 'You know what Brad? Are you serious about this GT thing? If you are then I reckon you sideline the 6 Hour car and just concentrate on the Bathurst GT races'," Schumacher said.
"So yeah, a bit of good advice there."
First practice in the GT series starts at 9.10am Friday.
