British Motorsport started the transition to electric power plants in 2018 and it is clearly the future for the sport (https://youtu.be/cfm3QdTorJ4).
An electric racing kart that runs a 78 volt lithium battery using Headway cells, a Motenergy 1114 motor and a Sevcon Size 2 controller cost $3300 to build in total, including $800 for a secondhand sprint kart (https://youtu.be/ju1Dh1gEy7Q).
In addition, another innovation would be to use recycled material in the construction of the track, as reported in The Sydney Morning Herald (October 2020).
Perhaps Bathurst Regional Council could specify that the already approved $100,000 loan to the Kart Club be used to upgrade the current stock of karts to electric power plants?
