The 6 Hour was held at Mount Panorama over the Easter long weekend, featuring a bumper grid of more than 60 production cars, with other categories at the circuit for the event as well.
Unsurprisingly, the NMRM was a must-stop destination for many motor racing fans and visiting teams, and as a result the museum saw three solid days of trade.
"We've had a superb start to this year, a couple of good racing events to bring people back to the mountain, but the year has gone very well so far," manager Brad Owen said.
While the 6 Hour has been of great benefit to the museum recently, it's not the only the thing helping to bring people through the doors.
Mr Owen said that the museum has been seeing between 250 and 450 people through the doors daily over the first week of the school holidays.
"Easter Monday was massive and its been really strong all week with the school holidays," he said.
"We're seeing between 250 and 450 [people] depending on which day it is, so very solid numbers."
The uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions is also thought to be driving visitation.
"I think with the COVID situation in Queensland, it has probably meant that people are coming west again and travelling in areas they might not have seen before," Mr Owen said.
"The good weather is probably helping as well."
Mr Owen joined the NMRM team about three years ago and during that time there have been some positive changes that are helping to grow visitation.
These include introducing new vehicles to the floor, holding major exhibitions and increasing the museum's presence of social media, which promotes the facility to a wider audience.
"As a result of that, it seems to be attracting repeat visitation and really increasing the profile," Mr Owen said.
