Last week, Member for Calare Andrew Gee announced that Bathurst Regional Council would receive $300,000 in funding for three projects under round one of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
From that, $50,000 will be used to improve the walking paths in Boundary Road Reserve, which are looking a bit worse for wear at the moment due to erosion.
Mayor Bobby Bourke said the walking paths through the reserve will be made safer as a result of the funding.
"This will be done by the end of June, which is not too far away," he said.
"It's good that the Federal Government and Andrew Gee have come on board. There's not too many walking tracks or reserves close to town that people can enjoy, and this is one of them."

Mr Gee added, "It's a much-loved conservation area that's used for recreation and runners and nature lovers and this work is going to help improve the amenity and use of the area."
Another $75,000 has been allocated to the canteen at Bathurst Sportsground, which council will combine with $50,000 of its own funds to bring the facility up to the relevant standards to allow food preparation.
"At the moment, it's essentially just a room with a sink in it, so there's very limited food preparation you're allowed to do inside the canteen, so once this upgrade is completed the sporting groups will be able to prepare food inside and it'll make the whole canteen much more functional," Mr Gee said
"At the moment, they're basically forced to have barbecues outside of the canteen itself, so it severely restricts and limits the use of the canteen and therefore the fundraising capabilities of the users of the ground."
The remaining $175,000 from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program will be put towards the upgrade to the Eglinton oval playground.
