Bathurst Regional Council has received a development application for the first of the rebrandings, at the Caltex service station at 19 Sydney Road, Kelso.
A Statement of Environmental Effects (SoEE) lodged with the DA says the proposal applies only to changing signage at the high-profile service station on the eastern entrance to Bathurst and would not impact on existing operational factors such as deliveries, waste management, hours and staffing.
"The proposed development is for replacement signage at the existing Caltex service station to reflect the Ampol rebranding," the SoEE states.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"The proposed replacement signage reflects the rebranding of Caltex service stations to Ampol service stations Australia wide.
"The proposed works specifically involve replacement signage including removal and replacement of main site ID pylon sign; removal and replacement of car canopy fascia signage."
Caltex Australia announced last year that it would reinvigorate the "much-loved and iconic Australian fuel brand" Ampol 25 years after it merged with Caltex in 1995.
"Our market research confirmed that Ampol continues to be regarded as a trusted brand by Australian consumers - even those who weren't born when the brand was retired," Caltex Australia managing director and CEO Julian Segal said.
"Our decision ... reflects the focus we still have today on our heritage of friendly and efficient service, high-quality Australian-made products and being part of the local community."
