Renshaw will join a field of 76 dedicated cyclists for the 2021 Ride for Country Kids event from May 2 to 4, riding some 420 kilometres from Dubbo to Cobar via Narromine and Nyngan.
The event will be raising funds for Royal Out West, a charity dedicated to connecting kids in rural and remote communities to the care they need.
After the event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, Renshaw, who was to join the event in 2020, said he can't wait to finally participate in the event.
"I've never ridden west of Dubbo, so it'll certainly be an interesting ride," he said.
"I imagine it'll be quite flat and will probably still a bit warmer at this time of year, but it's great to pair with Royal Far West, as they go to great lengths to supporting families with children who have to travel several hundred kilometres to receive treatment."
Royal Far West's 95+ paediatric clinicians support country kids age two to 12 with speech and language delays; behavioural and conduct disorders; early life trauma and mental illness; autism, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders.
Renshaw said he's honoured to support a charity that focuses solely on isolated families who often are disadvantaged when it comes to specialist health care.
"It's certainly tougher for families in places like Cobar and Nyngan, as they're several hours away from Sydney where desirable health resources are more readily available," he said.
"On the ride, we hope to raise awareness of Royal Far West's role in supporting isolated children and their families, and the need for their services are always growing."
The event is aiming to raise $450,000 and has already raised $190,774 of that goal.
"Being hit with drought, bushfires, COVID-19 and floods, country areas are doing it tougher than ever, and more families and communities are needing our help," Royal Far West chief executive officer Lindsay Cane said.
