"The goal is to grab that medal," Bestwick said after his side made it five consecutive wins at the Cooke Hockey Complex.
While the attacking midfielder has played plenty of hockey on his home turf and has previously represented his state at under 13s level, that the championships combine both of those elements make Bestwick even more driven to find success.
The Bathurst talent knows if he is to find it, it will take full commitment from the entire NSW State side. It's a quality that has already booked them a semi-final spot.
"Playing at home, it's great, it's fun," he said.
"To be undefeated so far, that's great, we play as a team, we trust everyone. I think we were just accountable to everyone really."
NSW State headed into its final pool game on Tuesday morning against Tasmania already assured of a semi-final berth, but they were keen to maintain their momentum.
That was exactly what they did, posting a 4-1 win.
In the the opening quarter it was close, Tasmania had two early penalty corners and threatened on the breakaway, but NSW scrambled well.
With 17 seconds of the period remaining Bestwick fired in a shot on goal and while saved, it was not cleared. His team-mate Josh Robson pounced on the loose ball to give the home side the lead.
Three minutes into the second quarter NSW struck again via Kane Nutley, but their rivals still created chances, including two more penalty corners.
Still Bestwick, who said "I think we are more of a second half side", was confident his team could go on with the job.
Robson and Nutley both struck again in the third period, while Tasmania was rewarded for its continual effort when Ben Sargent scored on the counter with a tick under three minutes left.
Now Bestwick and his team-mates are looking ahead to their 3.20pm Wednesday semi-final against Western Australian Gold.
"We've been talking about them, we play WA Gold and that will be a tough game," he said.
