THE return of crowds to horse racing also means the return of the ever-popular Fashions on the Field. Ladies will be turning heads in some amazing dresses and stylish outfits, while gents will be scrubbed up to the nines as many people look forward to getting dressed up for the races for the first time in over 12 months.
There will be four categories held on the day with the chance to win some amazing prizes including five nights accommodation at Peppers Salt Resort and Spa.
This year's theme is 'Carla Zampatti', with a brand new category this year, the Carla Zampatti Fashionista Tribute. Following her tragic death earlier this month at the age of 78, many people have celebrated the fashion icon's life and designs and General Manager for Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing, Michelle Tarpenning, said she thought having a special category at this year's races would be a lovely way to remember Zampatti.
"She really was an icon of fashion so by having this special category it will allow ladies to really glam up, push the boundaries and pay tribute to Carla's amazing life," she said. To be eligible for the category, entrants must have won at least five other Fashions on the Field across NSW.
The remaining categories include Elegant Classic Lady (over 35), Most Contemporary Lady (under 35), and Best Dressed Gentleman. Entrants are encourage to really think about the theme and autumn season when choosing their outfits, with accessories such as felt hats and fascinators, handbags, hosiery, gloves, and of course shoes, high on the 'desired' list. Final judging for Fashions on the Field will be at 3pm.
