Festival organiser Jen Barry said the highlight of the event will be The Great Festival Read on the Sunday [from 9.45am], which will feature a work of non-fiction for the first time in Rebecca Wilson's Kate Kelly: The True Story of Ned Kelly's Little Sister.
"We've got a great panel together for The Great Festival Read, including Tracey Callinan, Rob Willis, Danielle Hart and Sarah Gurich, and we encourage everyone to read the book prior to the event," Ms Barry said.
"Rebecca and I will appear following The Great Festival Read for an in-depth conversation about the book, which tells Kate Kelly's multifaceted story in full for the first time."
Other local sessions include author Tracy Sorensen chatting with editors Meg Keneally and Leah Kaminsky about Animals Make Us Human, and Toby Finlayson discussing the inspirational collection of poems from hip-hop song lyrics, Homeland Calling.
There will also be a host of live-streamed events with national and international authors from the Sydney Writers' Festival.
Printed programs are available from BMEC and Books Plus, and online from www.bmec.com.au.
