Last Thursday, Mrs Griffiths was in surgery for over 10 hours, a very in depth procedure that required the removal of the tumours, as well as her ovaries, uterus, significant part of her bowel and peritoneal wall.

Mrs Griffiths was in severe pain last month and it was found tumours had caused a bowel obstruction.

That came after she just finished treatment for a different case of bowel cancer in January, being diagnosed in the middle of 2020.

Her father Royce George said doctors have been surprised at how well she's been recovering from her latest surgery.

"The professor, who is absolutely brilliant with everything, is pleased with everything," he said.

"She went in and had surgery last Thursday, which was 13 hours from the time she left the room until the time she got back.

"She's not out of ICU at the moment but she can be. But the doctors are all very surprised at her recovery. She's just done marvellously.

"The night before the operation Matt and George Rose from No Limit Boxing got a video up from Ricky Stuart, Josh Papalii, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker wishing her the best, which really lifted her."

It will be a long process of recovery for Mrs Griffiths, as she'll need at least six months of treatment.

While her family is unsure of the timeline of future treatment, they are hoping to get her out of the intensive care unit, onto the ward, back to Bathurst Hospital and then start chemotherapy.
