Its first camp, the Australian World Orchestra Camp, gets underway in a few weeks.
Oscar said this camp will feature professional orchestra members, who will host workshops with young musicians. Oscar will attend the workshops as well as perform in a concert at the end of the camp.
He said the orchestra features musicians from all over the world, including Europe, and said it will be an amazing experience to get to play alongside such talented musicians.
Not surprisingly, he said the application process was quite hard.
Applicants had to audition. They were sent a piece of music which they had to rehearse, then record, then submit.
Oscar, who plays French Horn, submitted his piece and said he found out he was accepted about two or three days ago.
"It was pretty overwhelming, but definitely a good feeling," he said.
"It's a pretty huge opportunity for me," he said, adding he stands to gain a lot from being part of it.
"Just the chance to play alongside such experienced performers, and attend the workshops."
He said he hopes to eventually be a professional performer himself.
Oscar said he hopes to study a Bachelor of Music at either Griffith or Melbourne University next year.
He developed his love for music in Year 8 and since then he has gone on to study under the tuition of Campbell Barnes, and said he has learned a lot.
Oscar said he is really looking forward to the camp and the overall experience.
"It should be a lot of fun, and the opportunity to play with professional performers and learn from them is just amazing."
