Toastmasters International has been providing its services around the world for about 90 years, with their Bathurst-based club set to celebrate 40 years in the local community in the coming months.
While many clubs suffered through Covid, Toastmasters Bathurst is very proud to have continued providing the community with public speaking and leadership skills through the epidemic.
"During Covid, we've been one of the strongest clubs in Northern New South Wales," Toastmasters Bathurst vice president Brad McWilliams said.
"A lot of clubs closed down when we went into lockdown but we stayed going."
Having to move to the online world has paid dividends for the non-for-profit organisation, with Mr McWilliams claiming, creating the opportunity for people to participate from home has increased their participation.
The organisation is now looking forward to its 40-year celebration, encouraging past members of the club to get in contact.
"I thought we really need to celebrate because not every club gets to 40 years," Toastmasters Bathurst secretary and treasurer Merv Tobin said.
"A dinner will be held at Bathurst Goldfields in October and we have poet booked who's a member of Toastmasters, Greg North."
