Abbey Corby scored a first half treble for the St Pat's Blue league tag side on Friday night as they posted a 38-4 victory over under 16 club-mates St Pat's Pink.
But it was the manner in which she scored those tries in their Group 10 Junior Rugby League match which was the most impressive aspect. Corby showed explosive speed, elusive running and an ability to read play.
The tries all came with the space of 12 minutes, but the fullback impressed across the entire contest as Blue made it four wins from five games this season.
Corby's combinations with her Blue team-mates was telling and formed part of a strong spine - hooker Kirsten Bednal plus halves Mia Dopper and Samantha Hanrahan also producing some slick attacking movements.
The highlight came as Blue scored their second try. Bednel made the initial line break, found Hanrahan in support with the halfback drawing in a Pink defender before sending the ball back into the hands of her hooker.
Bednal was tagged just short of the line by Shae Fitzpatrick, but Dopper crossed the next play with some smart work from dummy half.
Bednal and Phoebe Connors were also amongst the try scorers in the first half as Blue put on 30 points, but Pink did not let them have it all their own way.
Pink five-eighth Tahnee Siakisoni had made good metres for her side and was rewarded for her efforts when she scored a tick over four minutes out from the break.
It lifted the younger and less experienced Pink side and while unable to upset their club-mates, they did show plenty of heart.
Pink conceded just two more tries in the second half - to Bednal and Hanrahan - as they better organised themselves in defence and asked more questions in attack.
One of Pink's more experienced players in halfback Lauren Roels made some strong runs and Siakisoni continued to looked a danger whenever she had ball in hand.
But with Corby making more line-breaks for Blue they were never in danger of losing their lead, going on to take out the match 38-4.
ST PAT'S BLUE 38 (Abbey Corby 3, Kirsten Bednal 2, Mia Dopper, Phoebe Connors, Samantha Hanrahan tries; Mia Dopper 4, Samantha Hanrahan 3, Phoebe Connors goals) defeated ST PAT'S PINK 4 (Tahnee Siakisoni)
