When the Blue Bulls won the Caldwell Cup in 2014, beating six-time defending champions Newcastle-Hunter in the Country Championships decider, they did so on their own turf at Mudgee's Glen Willow.
That same afternoon in March the Central West colts also won the Rowlands Cup.
Current Blue Bulls coach Dean Oxley, who's men won the most recent Caldwell Cup decider in 2019 at Tamworth and will try to defend it at the same venue this weekend, would love the chance for his side to compete at a Central West facility once more.
He believes that CWRU chief executive Matt Tink is the man who could make it happen.
"We'd love to host it in the Central West," Oxley said.
"Once it's made open to contenders I'm very confident Tinky will get behind bringing it back to the Central West. We've got great facilities in this zone so we might as well use them."
Tink was a driving force behind Central West's successful tour of New Zealand in 2019 and is already thinking about more representative opportunities for the region's finest.
"He's already talking about another tour, he's great for this zone, he's great for football. He's got all of his connections, but he's also got his passion and his hard work," Oxley said.
"He's certainly delivered a real opportunity for all the boys and girls who want to play rugby. There's far more opportunity than we've ever had in the past."
