Webb's new song, 'The World Stopped Turnin', sees the Lithgow-turned-Bathurst rocker delve deep into his virtuosic guitar mastery to deliver a soaring track full of thrills, passion and reflection.
"With last year being last year, there was a lot of content, so to speak, that fuelled my creative juices," he said.
"So I wanted to write a song from my perspective about 2020: how the world had stopped completely and how it inspired me to pursue my own music further: its a tune full of mixed emotions."
Unlike his last two singles, 'Sunrise' and 'Unfinished Sculpture', which he'd written previously in past bands, 'The World Stopped Turnin' is Webb's first solo release based on his recent songwriting efforts.
"This is the first solo release that's 100 per cent me; all the guitars, riffs, melodies, drums; it's the first proper 'Dave Webb' release," he said.
"The tune was heavily inspired by the work of Santa Cruz, a Finnish hard rock band who consider the 1980's hair metal scene as their biggest influence."
Webb's new single will be accompanied by a Greer Films-produced music video, which was filmed at Tremain's Mill.
"Pat [Greer, Greer Films owner] really dug deep into the meaning of the song, and I'm excited to see the final product," he said.
"Local photographer Brenton Cox also tagged along to take some promotional shots, and I'm thankful for his time as well."
Webb said 'The World Stopped Turnin' will form the basis for his current, self-produced, musical direction.
"I have a five-track EP in the works, which has a real alternative rock vibe, and I hope to get some original gigs happening in the near future, as I'd love to see an appreciation for home-grown rock grow in the Central West," he said.
'The World Stopped Turnin' will be released this Friday on all streaming platforms [Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music etc.].
