Three drivers in the space of the week have been caught by police doing excessive speeds around The Mount, on Sunday a driver was caught doing 119km an hour.
Acting Sergeant Jason Crew from Chifley Highway patrol said speeding across the state is an ongoing issue.
"Even more so at venues like Mt Panorama which allows people from all over the country (and across the world) to experience what it is like to drive a lap around the 'Aussie icon' and somewhere in the excitement the inner race car driver emerges and the 60km/h dual way residential area rules go out the window," he said.

"This is where police are continually called to the venue (especially on weekends) where a hand full of over zealous drivers, both visiting and the odd local too, take things a bit far and as a result Police are having to continually patrol the area," he said.
"For Police it is always a concern how far some individuals will push the limits, both with speed and also their driving capabilities, and knowing that the area is so popular amongst locals and other visitors it could be a recipe for disaster, so please respect the fact that 'outside of race days' Mt Panorama is a residential area and that the enforced speed limit around the track is 60km/h," he said.
The latest incident occurred around 3.36pm on Sunday, when the driver was stopped by police doing 119km an hour while police from North West Highway Patrol were conducting mobile speed enforcement on Mt Panorama.
The driver was stopped and spoken to who said to police "I thought it was a racetrack".
The driver was issued an infringement notice for exceed speed over 45km/h over the speed limit, a fine of $2520 and six demerit points. His licence was suspended for six months on the spot and his registration plates were seized. The weekend before, two drivers were booked for speeding at more than 30km/h over the limit in separate incidents on Mount Panorama.
