Apparently the council on one hand assumes that the silent majority is happy to pay, through rates, the money borrowed, as well as that already spent and yet to be spent, on the proposed go-kart track.
Might it not be reasonable to assume that the same silent majority would pay also for forgoing revenue over waived developer contributions - $109,914 compared with over $2.5 million.
Bathurst has a good name for being a great community. Among many things, sport, especially motor sports, is well to the fore there.
Being known for having a social conscience would be equally prized.
Come on, councillors, let's do better.
