The students, including members of the school's STEM [science, technology engineering and mathematics] Club, have been instrumental in creating a series of 3D animations for display at Tremain's Mill teaming with the 'Streets of Our Town' theme.
Year 9 student Nikki McGuire said the creations were a collaborative effort, inviting students to explore the world of technology.
"It's been pretty cool to put these together, we've spent weeks working on the animations and we can't wait for the community to see our creations on display," Nikki said.
The animations will be accompanied by soundscapes from local musician Rob Shannon.
Year 10 student Elouise Ferguson said the STEM Club introduces students to a number of career pathways considered vital to 21st century society.
"Animation's a big part of it, but we also get to look at coding and construction," Elouise said.
"We meet once a week, and STEM-based careers are going to be in high demand heading into the future."
Year 11 student Lauren Evans said the STEM Club encourages an integration of academic and practical skills.
"Since STEM-based careers are on the rise, this club is setting us up well for future roles in physics, engineering, maths, animation and filmmaking," Lauren said.
"It's sometimes a challenge to merge academic and practical knowledge, but both are essential to STEM-based careers."
MacKillop College STEM teacher Michelle Lee said the club offers students an inclusive outlet to share ideas and explore hidden talents.
"It's always a pleasure to see the students explore a wide variety of interests, which are nurtured practically through outlets such as the Bathurst Winter Festival," Mrs Lee said.
"We're very thankful for the involvement at the Winter Festival, as we understand not all schools in town get the opportunity."
The Winter Festival runs from June 26 to July 11.
