Visit to Penrith
I HAD the opportunity to travel to Penrith this week to meet with the executive team of the Penrith Panthers and grow the relationship the club has had with our city since 2014.
The Penrith Panthers will continue to play a game in our city until at least 2028 after renewing the partnership in 2017.
The Panthers are passionate about supporting grassroots rugby league and have participated in school visits and coaching clinics to mentor young players.
Rugby league has a large and loyal following in our region and the relationship with the Panthers provides immense benefits not just for sporting fans, but to everyone in our community.

Funding will provide a Giant leap for this worthy sporting body
IT was pleasing that the Bathurst Giants Aussie Rules Footy Club received a helping hand with the announcement of the latest round of the Local Sport Grants Program by the NSW Government.
The grants provide essential funds to help local sporting organisations increase participation, purchase equipment and improve facilities.
Sport is a way of life in our community and the Local Sport Grant Program is another excellent example of the NSW Government delivering for the people of the Bathurst region.
These grants provide vital funds to our local clubs which in turn contributes to improved social, health and cultural outcomes for the wider community.
The Bathurst Giants were successful in their application for $15,000 for the construction and installation of two interchange benches at their home ground, George Park 1.
These grants provide a welcome lift to communities as NSW emerges from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They are important for the local sporting community, in particular the army of volunteers who donate their time week in, week out to ensure local sport and recreation activities are available.
The program awards sporting organisations up to $20,000 for projects which focus on sport development, sport access, sports events and facility development.
The Bathurst Giants also received a sports grant in 2020 of $4505 to purchase new equipment and training vests.
