With Ed Morrish stepping down as captain, and Blake Weymouth and Harry McGregor planning a move to Sydney, much of what drove this club to a pair of championships will be gone.

And while no one's suggesting new skipper Brett Causer can't lead this squad to a successful campaign, there's clearly a few more holes in the line-up than usual.

Luckily for Orange City, former Centrals' all-rounder Fletcher Rose was entering the summer as somewhat of a free agent, and when the two parties got to talking, the deal was done.

Rose has confirmed his place on City's roster ahead of the title race as he will not only be one of the most dangerous players on this roster, but resume his status as one of the best cricketers in Orange.

"He wasn't enjoying his cricket last year and he wanted a fresh start," City captain Brett Causer said.

"We have obviously lost half of our top team from last year, so having another handy all-round cricketer will help fill some of that massive hole.

"More importantly, he's a fantastic human which fits perfectly into our culture."

Having put together so many solid performances over the season, you might think Causer is expecting the world from him this summer... that's not the case.

"He knows there's no pressure from me, I just want him to enjoy his cricket again," he said.

"Once he does that, he will succeed. He has too much talent not to."

It was a logical transition for Rose as he's long had a relationship with Causer, the duo building rapport throughout representative campaigns.

"I've always had a lot of time for Fletch," he said.

"Since he was in year 11 at Kinross, we've formed a good relationship through our time with Wranglers.

"He picks my brain with uni/career questions from time-to-time."

The Warriors are still surely airborne after their dramatic grand-final victory at the end of March as an epic stand from Troy O'Keefe allowed them to defy the odds and claim another cup.

While they won't head the outright betting markets this summer, you'd be a brave man to rule them out.
