The growth in housing developments in several sections of the city has seen the change to bin collection days.
Acting mayor Ian North said council regularly reviews the numbers of bins due to be collected each day of the week to ensure the numbers are similar.
"Council has written to each property impacted by the change," he said.
"For most households the status quo remains, but for some residents the increased number of bins being collected in certain areas means we need to adjust the daily collection. Households have also been sent a new waste collection calendar showing their current and new bin collection days.
"Council's crews are currently collecting more than 5,500 bins on a Monday compared to an average of around 3,000 on each other day of the week. These changes will even out these numbers and improve collection efficiency across the city," Cr North said.
Council will also place signage in the impacted areas to remind people of the changes occurring.
Where are the changes?
- Laffing Waters area: from Monday to Tuesday
- Raglan area: from Monday to Friday
- Cedar Drive and Cherrywood Crescent area: Tuesday to Wednesday
- Area around lower Havannah Street: Tuesday to Thursday
Bins will still need to be put out the night before collection morning.
Maps showing the areas impacted by the change can be found on Bathurst Regional Council's website.
No other changes to waste collection services are proposed.
