The inaugural strategy aims to improve the region's ability to cater for an ageing population over the next five years.
Given that 25 per cent of the population is estimated to be over the age of 60 by 2031, it is essential that Bathurst is able to cater to people in that age bracket.

The strategy encompasses four key areas: living in an age friendly environment; participating in inclusive communities; staying safe, active and healthy; and being resilient and informed.
Once adopted, the strategy will enable council to respond to the demands on services and facilities with an age friendly lens and work towards improving the quality of life for older people in the region.
It was developed in consultation with stakeholders and community members, but council is giving the community one last opportunity to contribute to the strategy before it is adopted.
The document is currently on public exhibition, with council accepting submissions until July 23.
At the conclusion of the public exhibition period, any community feedback will be considered prior to submitting the final Positive Ageing Strategy for council adoption.
Councillor Jacqui Rudge, who has been a passionate supporter of the Positive Aging Strategy, said public feedback had already helped to shape council's future plans.
"I'll be very interested to see this come to fruition because we are becoming an aging population, as we can quite easily see we have many more retirement villages and facilities that seem to be cropping up in Bathurst, and we need to be able to have these people have access to the various facilities and have ways and means of getting there," she said.
Once adopted, the strategy will be implemented in partnership with key stakeholders in the Bathurst local government area.
