Numerous agencies have scrapped their open home inspections, opting instead for private inspections.
Some, such as One Agency Bestwick Real Estate, are also offering virtual inspections.
Raine and Horne Bathurst cancelled its scheduled open homes last weekend in light of the lockdown in Sydney.
"Given current COVID circumstances, we just wanted a little bit more control over the situation over who is coming and going from our properties, more as a protection for our community, our staff and our vendors," director Grant Maskill-Dowton said.
"... We cancelled our open houses at the last minute last weekend; we had them advertised and then we made the executive decision to say 'No, we don't think it's the right thing to do'.
"We had a lot of people contacting us from potential hotspots wanting to attend open houses and we just didn't feel comfortable with that situation, and certainly once we spoke to our vendors they were very against it."
