IN the first half they scored at more than a point a minute, in the second half they had to muscle up and defend and at full-time CSU emerged with an 11th straight win in the North Cup after beating Parkes 50-7.

Though the wet, cold and muddy conditions at University Oval, combined with sustained periods of pressure from Parkes, meant it was not CSU's slickest performance of the season, the win moved them 25 points clear on top of the ladder.
CSU coach Peter Plunkett knows there is room for his side to improve before the finals, but he was still smiling at full-time.
"We lost our shape a bit there, but full credit to these guys [Parkes], their forwards played better in the second half and we didn't set the platform for our backs," he said.
"But that's something we can work on, we did show a lot of character scrambling for long periods of time. Onwards and upwards."

Maddie Reilly finished the match with a personal haul of 25 points - she scored three tries and booted five conversions - while Plunkett was also happy with the effort of CSU's pack.
"Maddie Reilly she's very good, she's a very good hole runner and once again all credit to our forwards for this effort, especially in this kind of weather," he said.
Reilly scored her first try after just 32 seconds, backing up Gaby Downing after she broke clear down the right wing.
Two long range tries - one to Kelly Baker, the other Steph Doyle - followed and by quarter-time the hosts led 26-0.
Parkes, who had won a scrum against the feed in the opening period, began the second quarter pressuring CSU's line.
But the students got out of trouble, Chiara Major nabbed a long ranger then from the kick-off Katherine Windsor broke clear to score and take it out to 38-0.
That's how it stood at half-time and while Parkes' Erica Stevenson scored the only try of the third quarter as the visitors lifted, the hosts were never in danger.
Downing and Reilly both crossed in the final quarter to ice another bonus point win.
CSU faces Mudgee in the final round of the regular season next Saturday.
