A noted bad traveller, Wild Rocket appreciated racing at Narromine Turf Club after the meeting was shifted from Wellington due to a rain-sodden track.

Wild Rocket ran fourth in the $500,000 Country Championships Final earlier this year and went into Monday's meeting with a record of four wins from 18 career starts but the most recent of those victories came back in February at Dubbo Turf Club.

But with regular jockey Mathew Cahill again in the saddle, noted wet track performer Wild Rocket showed her quality on Monday and powered home to win the Hermitage Hill Country Retreat Mountain and Rivers Handicap (1300m) by more than a length.

"I'll aim her at the Forbes Cup and Narromine Cup now," Kennedy told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

While the home track and heavy nature of the surface helped Wild Rocket win it was still an impressive training performance from Kennedy.

An 1800m event at Hawkesbury last week had initially been the goal but after rain forced that meeting to be abandoned a change of plan was needed.

There was a few nerves in the camp when Wild Rocket was slow out of the gates on Monday but, as is her style, she steadily made ground and won from early leader McKellars Love (James Rogers, $8.50) and Canberra visitor Mad As Zariz (Kayla Nisbet, $2.50 favourite).

"I was a bit worried when she was a bit slow away," Kennedy admitted.

"She can be a bit tardy away but she was a bit slower than usual but you've got Matty on so I felt a bit more at ease there."

Monday's meeting was also a special one for apprentice jockey Elissa Meredith.

Meredith, apprenticed to Dubbo trainer Clint Lundholm, had never ridden a double prior to Monday's meeting but achieved a career highlight at Narromine when riding a winning treble.

Meredith won with Lundholm's Watch Me Rumble, the Janelle Galea-trained Electrifying Lady and Streets of Suemori for Gilgandra trainer Kieren Hazelton.
