THEY didn't look like big winning chances along the back straight during Friday night's racing at Dubbo but Josh Turnbull's Itsallaboutned and Lucky Lyla still found ways to win.

Itsallaboutned ($3.10 favourite, Isobel Ross) found some space late in the Hogs Breath Cafe Dubbo Pace (2,120 metres) to score a narrow win while Lucky Lyla ($9.50, Ross) flew home down the outside of the track in her last-to-first effort in the Furney's Horseland Pace (1,720m).
Sitting two back on the pegs, things looked dire for Itsallaboutned before a gap to the outside managed to open up.
From there he was able to chase down Drive To The Beach ($7.50, Steve Turnbull) in a close finish.
"In both those races we needed a bit of luck but Issy had done a good job to get them over the line first," Turnbull said.
"To his credit, [Itsallaboutned] has been racing well, he just needed that bit of luck. The gap opened up at the right time and did just enough to get there."
Lucky Lyla could be on the verge of a happy retirement should she produce a couple more results like the one she had on Friday.
She's on the verge of the magic six-figure prizemoney count, something that Turnbull's had his eyes on for some time.
"Her form doesn't read good but she's been unlucky in the last couple. She was back to her old form on Friday night though so I couldn't be happier," Turnbull said.
"The goal with her is to get her to $100,000 [career prizemoney]. She's sitting on $96,000 at the moment so I'm hoping at this point we can crack 100 before breeding season and then she'll go to the breeding barn."
Greg Rue also returned home with a pair of successes from the Dubbo meeting, except his came in much more dominant fashion.
Best Beau ($2.70 joint favourite) was worked forward mid-race by Rue in the Orana Wool & Scrap Metal Pace (2,120m) and still had enough left in the tank to see off his competition by 12.1m.
Whiskiesonthebeach ($2.50 favourite) then went even better in the Westside IGA Pace (2,120m) as he hammered his closest rival by 22m.
Steve Turnbull was also a winner on the night with Cassius Deck.
