AFTER having to move multiple bookings for Race Week last year due to COVID regulations, local hotels and motels have again had to work overtime to accommodate the postponed Bathurst 1000.

The Bathurst 1000 has been moved from its traditional October spot to November 4-7 as part of Supercars' revised calendar for the 2021 championship.
Supercars says the changes have been made because of ongoing border closures due to COVID-19.

Despite the uncertain times and the date change, local accommodation including the Panorama Motel and Mantra Hotel Bathurst are booked out for the event.
"We have managed to move most of our reservations over to November," Panorama Motel reception manager Cindy Hotham said.
"However, we have had some cancellations as guests are unable to make the new dates with some of our New Zealand guests moving their bookings to 2022."
IN OTHER BUSINESS NEWS IN BATHURST:
Mrs Hotham believes that some people knew of the date changes before they were officially announced because the motel received bookings for the new dates before they were released.
"We have special event policies in place for Race Week and had no time to implement those and revise our rates as we found out when everybody else did," she said.
"Maybe [it was] coincidence, but I do believe there were people in the know and given that heads-up of a date change as we did receive a few bookings via online sources on the Thursday prior to Friday's announcement for the new dates.
"Those bookings were made under our normal terms and conditions and unfortunately there is not much we can do about that."
Regardless, Mrs Hotham is happy that the motel is fully booked and is hoping for a successful Race Week after last year's letdown due to COVID.
Meanwhile, Mantra Bathurst general manager Tina Pham is also looking forward to Race Week booking out the currently quiet hotel.
"We're fully booked. I mean, now it's super quiet, but when Bathurst 1000 comes around, I think it will be alright," she said.
"It looks like everyone is moving over except we have the New Zealand people not coming so they have to cancel with us, but other than that it seems like everyone is changing their booking over."
The 2020 Bathurst 1000 was limited to 4000 spectators per day and there were warnings in the lead-up that those who did not have a ticket should not be going near the Mount.
