Running from August 21 to September 10, the Bathurst Eisteddfod will see hundreds of local entrants compete in dance, music, speech and drama, with programs currently available to purchase.

This year's event, much like last year, has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, however, with entrants from lockdown zones unable to attend, audience numbers restricted and all people required to wear masks if not performing.

Bathurst Eisteddfod president Renee Fowler said restrictions will be fairly similar to last year.

"We have been through this, unlike a lot of other eisteddfod that are running for the first time during COVID," she said.

"We do have audience restrictions within the theatre which for solos is easy. But because we are running, at this stage, groups, it will be one parent only per child. It's tricky but that's what's happening for all groups and a lot of school stuff.

"We normally let the schools sit in and watch but obviously this year they won't be able to. They will come and perform and then leave the building, because of number restrictions.

"It's a bit of a shame, a bit hard. At least they're getting to perform."

Current COVID-19 regulations are in place until August 28 at this stage, meaning the final week and a half of the eisteddfod may see restrictions lifted.

When on stage, performers are allowed to remove their masks, however, they must put them back on after they're finished.

People in the audience, as well as volunteers and staff will be required to wear masks at all times, unless under the age of 12.

Organisers are also still looking for volunteers, however, numbers are down much like last year.

"They're coming along slowly and we waited only a couple of weeks ago to get that information out just because of what was happening with COVID-19," Ms Fowler said.

"But definitely, if people have a couple of hours free, it would be lovely if they can help out."

Programs are currently available to purchase from Donna Callista Hair Salon and Dancewear on Keppel Street.

The eisteddfod will be held at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre.
