Supercars has revealed that Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium will host the biggest off-site event ever organised for the Bathurst 1000 - a festival-style one-day 'Bathurst Boot Party.'
Auckland's motor sport fans will have the chance to follow defending champion Shane van Gisbergen, Kiwi Supercar legends Greg Murphy and potentially three-time Supercars' title winner Scott McLaughlin on a huge 212m2 crystal clear LED screen.
On-screen viewing will be complemented by a festival-style set up across the venue with live entertainment, motor sport activations and demonstrations, special guests, competitions and classic car displays.
"This is a brilliant way for fans to take in the atmosphere of our Great Race, from within one of Auckland's premier venues," Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said.
At this stage that has been set for November 7 to coincide with the 161-lap epic, but that could change.
Supercars announced a fortnight ago it would move the Bathurst 1000 from its original October slot to November 4-7 in response to the current COVID-19 situation, but that falls within Challenge Bathurst 'exclusive use' period agreed upon with Bathurst Regional Council.
Discussions amongst the parties involved are ongoing.
