The split result at Proctor Park sees Panorama join fifth placed Parkes on 18 competition points with one round remaining, but the Cobras (-3) have a better for and against record than the Bathurst outfit (-6).
"Mathematically we are alive, but it's pretty much dashed. We need to beat Dubbo Bulls and we need Lithgow to beat Parkes when that last round goes ahead," Panorama's coach Brent Osborne said.
"We were a point behind Parkes so now we're level, but goal difference is the thing for us. So we've got to win and yeah, say go Lithgow."
Chasing third spot on the ladder, Barnstoneworth had the better of the possession and territory in the first half as the speed of their wingers tested Panorama.
However, it was a quickly taken free kick in the ninth minute which saw Grant Koch into space down the right edge and Barnies' leading goal scorer added another to his season tally.
Though Panorama was able to draw level on the hour mark thanks to Jacob Soetens, it was a lapse which could cost the Goats a spot in the finals series.
"We did the same last week too, had a lapse and let a goal in in the first couple of minutes - what do you do?," Osborne lamented.
"We adjusted a few things and came out better in the second half. We hit the post, they hurt, and there were a couple of chances there, but at the end of the day games can be won and lost on mistakes and the first half cost us a win unfortunately."
Two minutes before Barnies scored their only goal of the contest, there was a nervous moment for Panorama.
Barnies' Dylan Hallz ran onto a bouncing through ball, burst into the box and managed to beat Panorama goalkeeper Connor Hayes.
His shot headed towards the open net, but Jarred Portegies had scrambled back to trap then clear the ball.
Hayes was busy during throughout match - he made a top-shelf parry to deny Hallz from range in the 14th minute and with four minutes left pulled off an even more spectacular effort when turning away a curling Ben Giumelli strike.
Barnies goalkeeper Marcus Tieppo had his highlight early in the second half following a Panorama corner kick.
Ryan Peacock's header struck the post but after his Panorama team-mate Dylan White send the rebound back towards goal then Will Fitzpatrick blasted in an on-target attempt, a diving Tieppo held it out.
Seven minutes later Panorama had the equaliser they desperately needed. Ricky Guihot and Tieppo went up together to challenge for a bouncing ball at the top of the box and it fell to Soetens.
The striker made no mistakes as he netted his 10th goal of the season.
Panorama's scheduled game this weekend against Bulls has been postponed due to the Dubbo local government area lockdown.
