A man has been arrested in Penrith after two people were found stabbed to death in a home at Oberon this morning.

Emergency services were called to a home on On-Avon Avenue about 7.15am following concerns for the welfare of the occupants.
Officers from Chifley Police District attended and found the bodies of a man and a woman with stab wounds. They are yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths has commenced.

Following inquiries, officers from Nepean Police Area Command and Nepean Highway Patrol arrested a 46-year-old man on Jack William Drive, Penrith, about 8.50am.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for what is believed to be minor injuries before being taken to Nepean Hospital where he remains under police guard.
Police say the parties are known to each other. No further information is available at this stage.
