It was scheduled to be held on Sunday, September 19 and was going to be the 45th running.
"This decision has been made in light of the recent regional [COVID] outbreaks in our area and a desire to protect our local community, for which we ultimately strive to benefit," the organising committee said in a statement.
"Those who have already entered will be contacted and entry money will be refunded in full.
"We would like to thank our many, many generous sponsors and look forward to their support in 2022."

The organising committee had made the decision, earlier this month, to restrict the event to regional entrants only.
Entrant numbers were also going to be restricted to a total of 500.
The Edgell Jog was first run in 1976, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Edgell organisation, and has only missed two years since: 2020 and now 2021.
