The Western Advocate has been told the pharmacy was contacted by NSW Police earlier this week to say a person with COVID-19 had been at their George Street premises last Thursday and that Capital Chemist was a casual contact venue.
But after staff reviewed CCTV footage they were able to determine the person had not entered the premises and had been helped by staff at the front door, where tables have been set up to stop casual customers going inside.
They provided that information to authorities and "it took four days for them to confirm we weren't a casual exposure site", the Advocate has been told.
The Western Advocate understands NSW Health is in the process of updating the website.
