IN the lead-up to Probus Day on October 1, the Western Advocate will use the five Thursdays in September to have a look at each of the five clubs in the city. This week, it's the Probus Club of Bathurst Plains.
The Probus Club of Bathurst Plains was founded in 1989 and the first president was the then Bathurst City Council town clerk Max Kingston.

He remained president for the first two years before being replaced by Ben Brownjohn in 1991-1992. Max again acted as president in 2001-02.
The club has had many notable and colourful presidents.
The club is still going strong today with 65 active members, and is always ready to welcome more into the fold.
The club is a men's only club that meets every second Wednesday of the month at the Panthers Club.
Meetings start at 10am and the club strives to have an interesting guest speaker at each of its meetings.
On the last Wednesday of each month, members get together for a casual "Coffee and Chat".
A small group enjoys a river walk each Monday morning; everyone is welcome.
The aim of the club is to have as many local seniors meet as possible to enjoy some friendship, fellowship and have some fun along the way.
Members also enjoy monthly outings and get-togethers and have also organised many successful trips away with wives and partners (at least once a year), although COVID has curtailed plans for this year.
For more information, contact the club's membership director Arch Ledger on (02) 6331 8587 or president Brian Burke on 0438 159 323.
The club's mailing address is The Probus Club of Bathurst Plains Inc, PO Box 587, Bathurst, NSW, 2795.
