While COVID-19 has caused significant difficulties for many businesses, Vic's Fat Pizza owner Vic Issa said it's important to consider the many vulnerable members of the community who have faced significant burdens prior to the pandemic.
"It's tough on businesses at the moment, without a doubt, but there's so many people out there; the homeless, those fleeing unsafe home environments; who are doing it far worse," Mr Issa said.
"I often see many individuals pass our shop clearly doing it tough, and we cook them a pizza without question, and in times like this, it's important for us as takeaway businesses to give that little bit back."
"Some may not be as receptive to the gesture, but in other instances, you may just make someone's day, so I feel it's something meaningful for businesses to consider if they can afford it."
Mr Issa said he wants to raise further awareness about the value local takeaway stores can bring to charities actively endeavouring to help the more vulnerable members of the community.
"I'm happy to donate pizzas to anyone doing it tough, and I strongly encourage any local charities who work with the homeless to reach out to us," he said.
"It breaks our hearts to see people living rough."
Representatives from local charities who assist the homeless are encouraged to pay a visit to the store between 4.30pm and 8pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
