Peter Rogers, "you took the words right out of my mouth", to quote a popular song of our era.
A group of investors are willing to spend $70 million building a well-designed, modern, fully-functional medical health facility, including private hospital, in Bathurst.
They are planning to build it near the CBD and willing to contribute to the cost of a much-needed approximately 900 space car park in the middle of the block in easy walking distance from CBD shops and businesses.
We want this new medical facility; we will welcome the medical specialists who will come to provide their services for us.
For the current and the future residents of Bathurst, this is what we have been asking for and need desperately.
As someone who has had to travel to Sydney several times over recent years for relatively simple, but necessary, life-saving operations, I welcome the foresight of the investors to provide the modern Integrated Medical Centre facilities to encourage specialists to visit Bathurst for appointments; and private hospital facilities to enable operations to be carried out here in Bathurst where our family and friends live.
To the people who say it's not in the right place, look at the site as it exists today.
The investors have looked at other sites and chosen this site as the most suitable for their facility with its close proximity to the CBD.
Consider the boost it will bring to CBD businesses with the extra people being brought here, with suitable parking and time to walk through the CBD and buy from local businesses.
We have all been complaining about the lack of adequate medical services and facilities in Bathurst; here is our chance to welcome medical specialists and other services to Bathurst.
We need to show our support.
