A "link bridge" is part of the design so those using the Bathurst Integrated Medical Centre (BIMC) can walk directly to the car park.
Concept plans, a range of artist impressions and an economic impact statement for the BIMC were put on display through Bathurst Regional Council's Yoursay site just over two weeks ago.
RECENT LETTERS TO THE EDITOR:
The $70 million proposal for the six-centre BIMC comes with a plan for an adjoining five-level car park on Bathurst Regional Council-owned land.
In response to feedback received and questions asked so far, the BIMC group and Zauner Construction have said the development application for the new council-owned car park will seek approval for 915 cars, "including many disability spaces".
They say the BIMC will have 60 reserved car parks for its doctors and tenants and the balance of 855 spaces will be available for the public, "including free parking for BIMC and RSL staff, patients and patrons".
"It is understood that free parking for businesses and the community will be maintained, however decisions about this as well as parking time limits at the site will be made by the council," BIMC and Zauner say.
As well as having "pedestrian crossings and good lighting through the ground level areas", BIMC and Zauner say the car park design "includes a link bridge connecting to level one of BIMC "so patients are able to park and walk directly into the building without having to cross the road".
"Disabled access parking will also be provided adjacent to the link bridge for direct access. Lifts will also be provided in the car park in multiple locations so visitors can have ease of access, such as to the RSL," BIMC and Zauner say.
The medical centre, including fit out, will be privately funded.
It will be considered by the NSW Government as a state significant project.
The BIMC group and Bathurst RSL, meanwhile, will contribute $8.4 million to kick start construction of the planned council-owned car park.
